'Nakhid optimistic ahead of 2030 World Cup Campaign'

 


Former Trinidad and Tobago midfielder and captain, now Parliamentary Secretary in the Minisrty of Sport and Youth Affairs, Senator David Nakhid said rebuilding must take place if the national footballers are to qualify for the 2030 World Cup after falling short of their goal of qualifying for the 2026 edition.

Trinidad and Tobago retained their Carifta Artistic Gymnastics Championships crown after capturing the lion’s share of prizes when the second edition concluded on the infield of the National Cycling Centre in Balmain, Couva, on December 7.

TT’s 63-member contingent bettered last year’s medal haul by flipping to a whopping 167 medals in total, comprising 85 gold, 57 silver and 25 bronze.

'Minister Watts Praises Senior Women Footballers, Eyes Honduras and El Salvador Clashes'

 

Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Honourable Phillip Watts, has commended Trinidad and Tobago’s Senior Women’s National Football Team after their dominant 5–0 victory over Barbados in the CONCACAF Women’s Qualifier in Bridgetown.

 

In a courtesy visit, Minister Watts praised key players and the technical staff, calling the result “a proud moment for the nation” and proof of the team’s growing potential.
