‘$750k for Keshorn, Jereem; Chaconia Gold for TKR’

The Trinbago Knight Riders received this country’s second-highest honour, the Chaconia Gold Medal. While Javelin World Champion, Keshorn Walcott and 400m World Championships silver medallist, Jereem Richards, received $500,000 and $250,000 respectively. Additionally, Keshorn Walcott, TKR standouts, captain Nicholas Pooran and Keiron Pollard have been named national sport ambassadors.

‘T&T senior football team now called Carnival Kings’

T&T’s senior football team wil now be called the “Carnival Kings”. The name was approved, according to a high-ranking member of the TTFA. This comes after Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, Senator David Nakhid had intervene between the TTFA and Mr. Selwyn Melville.

‘Studio 7 dancers capture 23 medals in Panama’

Studio 7 Dance School, home of the Spartan Cheer Club, enjoyed a very successful outing at the All-Dance America Championship at Hotel El Panama in Panama City, which ended on Saturday, with the 23-member team capturing 23 medals, 6 gold, 13 silver, and 4 bronze medals from 27 entries.

‘Prime Minister Kamla honours sporting heroes’ |
Javelin gold medallist Keshorn Walcott will receive, as an acknowledgement of his achievement and pride of country, $500,000; an appointment as a national sports ambassador, and a diplomatic passport for his accomplishments at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
His colleague, silver medallist in the 400 metres Jereem Richards, will receive $250,000.
And Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 champions the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), who won the CPL finals in Guyana, will receive the Chaconia Medal (Gold) at the National Awards, Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s, today. Player of the tournament Kieron Pollard and captain Nicholas Pooran were also named sports ambassadors and will be given diplomatic passports.

‘Sports Minister Watts reaffirms government’s support for national athletes’ |
MINISTER of Sport and Youth Affairs Phillip Watts commended Keshorn Walcott and Jereem Richards for their outstanding performances at the World Athletics Championships in Japan, which saw the former cop a historic men’s javelin gold, and the latter set a new national record, in blistering men’s 400-metre silver medal showing.
Addressing the pair at a welcome reception at Piarco International Airport on September 22, Watts described their achievements as “inspiring” and “a reminder of the greatness that lives in Trinidad and Tobago.”
Watts reaffirmed government’s continued investment in sport and athlete development and said the success of Walcott and Richards reflects the importance of strategic support.

Sporting heroes Keshorn Walcott, Jereem Richards, and the Trinbago Knight Riders were all honoured and rewarded for their recent exploits by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago during a visit with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar at the Diplomatic Centre in Port of Spain on Tuesday. World Athletics Championships Gold Medallist Keshorn Walcott expressed gratitude for the recognition as he made a commitment to the nation.

‘New State-Of-The-Art Gym Launched For Elite Athletes In Couva’ |
Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Phillip Watts has officially opened a third state-of-the-art Elite Athlete Gym in partnership with the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago. The new facility, located at the National Cycling Velodrome in Couva, joins its counterparts at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain and the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua.
