‘Silver medallist Akeem ‘The Titan’ Stewart returns home’

Para-athlete Akeem “The Titan” Stewart, who continues to create national pride, recently returned to T&T, following his inspiring silver medal performance at the 2025 World Para-Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India on Friday (Oct 3). Officials from the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs (MSYA)and the Sport Company of T&T (SporTT) gathered at the Piarco International Airport on Monday (Oct 6) to celebrate Stewart’s outstanding achievement. Stewart secured the silver medal with a season-best throw of 59.64 metres in the men’s discus F44 event, cementing his reputation for excellence on the global stage of para-sport. The result adds to a decorated career, reaffirming his place among the elite athletes of T&T.

‘Sports Minister Phillip Watts hails Stewart’s World Para-Athletics Champs silver’

Para-athlete Akeem Stewart came in for high praise from Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs (MSYA) Phillip Watts and other ministry officials upon his return home from another historic World Para-Athletics Championships showing in New Delhi, India.
A MSYA statement said Minister Watts congratulated the thrower on behalf of the TT government. “Akeem has once again proven that resilience, dedication, and the heart of a champion are the true hallmarks of a titan,” Watts said. “His silver medal is not just a personal victory, but a beacon of inspiration for our entire nation. We are immensely proud of his achievement on the world stage, and the government remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting our athletes as they continue to fly our flag high.”

‘Daryan Warn among 12 appointed to SporTT board’

The Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT) has appointed a 12-member board of directors. Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs (MYSA) Phillip Watts ushered in the newly-appointed board at a ceremony held at Nicholas Tower in Port of Spain, on October 8. Kester Lendor was appointed chairman with Shaun Teekasingh deputy chairman. Among the appointed directors are Daryan Warner, son of former vice-president of Fifa Jack Warner, Lester Lal, Hayden Duke, Nefertari Kernahan, Sharon Winchester, Kavita Karamsingh, Adrian Ali, Ndu-Bisi Hall, Darren Ali and Deryck Mathura.

‘Over $1.5 Million Distributed to Athletes, NGOs, And Youth Projects’

The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs on Wednesday distributed over $1.5 million in funding to a diverse group of individuals and organisations during a cheque distribution ceremony held at its office in Nicholas Towers. A total of fifteen recipients, made up of athletes, national sporting organisations, youth-focused NGOs, and community leaders, received cheques valued at $1,585,000 to aid in the execution of their upcoming initiatives, which include preparations for international competitions, youth leadership programmes, and community-based sporting projects.
