T&T Badminton Association (TTBA) president, Chandrika Ramsubahg, was full of praise for the T&T players who recently returned home with a bulging bag of medals at the conclusion of the Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation (CAREBACO) Junior Championships in Barbados.

Ramsubahg was full of praise for the contribution of Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Honourable Phillip Watts. He said that though Minister Watts is new in his role, he has already demonstrated his commitment to the sport of badminton, working with the children, and promoting sport and youth.

The Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Honourable Phillip Watts hosted a courtesy call with the CEO of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Mr. Pete Russel to strengthen ties to help advance cricket and youth development across T&T and the wider West Indies.

Also in attendance were CEO of SporTT, Mr. Jason Williams, and manager of the Trinbago Knight Riders, Mr. Colin Borde, reflecting a unified approach across government, league, and franchise stakeholders

‘Minister of Sport Meets CPL CEO to Strengthen Cricket and Youth Development Collaboration’

 

 

Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Phillip Watts, hosted a courtesy call with Mr. Pete Russell, CEO of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), underscoring a strengthened collaboration to advance cricket and youth development across Trinidad and Tobago and the wider West Indies. Also, in attendance were Mr. Jason Williams, CEO of SporTT, and Mr. Colin Borde, Manager of the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), reflecting a unified approach across government, league, and franchise stakeholders.
Talks centred on the tournament’s role in reigniting passion for West Indies cricket, accelerating regional player development, and creating durable pathways for youth through joint programmes with the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs. Mr. Russell reiterated his vision to leverage the CPL’s platform to uplift West Indies cricket, while Minister Watts outlined plans to align sport tourism and grassroots-to-academy cricket development for long-term impact.
