| Sport Division | Daily Express | Sport News | $2.5M Setback - SporTT rejects TTFA funding request for Concacaf Nations League | The Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT) has formally declined the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association’s (TTFA) request for just over $2.5 million to cover expenses associated with the senior men’s team’s participation in the 2026 Concacaf Nations League. In response to this latest development, Sport and Youth Affairs Minister, the Honourable Phillip Watts noted the challenges faced by SporTT with respect to the reconciliation by the TTFA.
Minister Watts said yesterday, “Such issues have predated my tenure and continue to be a hurdle towards accountability and transparency. We will agree that matters of public purse should engage our attention, and we must be diligent in the allocation and spending of the same, and must not be accused of mishandling or misappropriating. I, as minister, will do all that is required to ensure that all NGBs comply with the rules and/or policies to ensure good governance in this country.” |
