T&T Olympian Nicholas Paul has welcomed the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) landmark decision to award every Olympic athlete.

The IOC announced on Wednesday that every athlete who competes at the Olympic Games will be eligible for the new “Fit for the Future Olympian Grant,” beginning with competitors from the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.

Potential for growth, potential for medals. A cycling camp began yesterday in Balmain, Couva that organisers see as an attempt to grow the potential track and road talents existing in the Caribbean.

The COPACI Track and Road Cycling Development Camp (June 29-July 11) has brought together young cyclists and some coaches from across the Caribbean for a programme that combines elite coaching, sports science, and competitive training.

Sport, opportunity, and transformation came together at the Youth Transformation and Rehabilitation Centre (YTRC) in Arouca over the weekend, as the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs hosted Day 2 of the 2026 Football Fiesta.

The event, which celebrates the ongoing FIFA Men’s World Cup, included an Under-20 tournament, with Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Phillip Watts underscoring the initiative’s role in rehabilitation.
