T&T's 2-26 Carifta Games team became the fourth most successful contingent to participate in the annuall regional showcase of junior track and field talent. From April 4-6, the country's most successful team since 2007 accumalated 35 medals.

Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Honourable Phillip Watts heaped praise on the young national heroes.

USA-based Liam Carrington won two individual gold medals in record times, while Zahara Anthony also doubled up for T&T in a jaul of six fold medals, five silver, and four bronze. 

The T&T swimmers are third on the table with 43 medals, the most of any of the 24 countries competing, consisting of 14 gold, 15 silver and 14 bronze medals.

Many medals were on display at the VIP Lounge of the Piarco International Airport, yesterday, as the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs celebrated Trinidad and Tobago’s excellent showing at the Carifta Games in St George’s, Grenada.

Shortly after touching down at Piarco, the T&T athletes were showered with praise by Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Phillip Watts.

Sport Division TTT News Sport News 'Minister Watts Praises CARIFTA Teams' Standout Showing In Grenada'


Trinidad and Tobago’s CARIFTA track and field team was welcomed home and the government is calling its performance in Grenada nothing short of historic.

Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Phillip Watts welcomed the athletes back on Tuesday afternoon, saying that this was the country’s best CARIFTA showing since 2010 and possibly the third-best performance in the Games’ history.
