It was a double-gold weekend for Ella-Marie Young at the Caribbean Junior Road Cycling Championships in Belize.

Having captured the title in the Juvenile Women’s individual time trial crown on Saturday, Young returned yesterday to claim gold in the road race.

Bascombe’s half-lap sizzler was just one-hundredth of a second slower than the 22.25 national record established by Michelle-Lee Ahye at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
