Mateo Mollineau reached the round of 32 in Boys’ Under-15 singles at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF)-Americas Youth Championships in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Mollineau was the only Trinidad and Tobago player at the hemispheric tournament to move past the round robin group stage in singles.

Three of Trinidad and Tobago’s most influential cricketers of the Twenty20 era were given a permanent place in the history of the Queen’s Park Oval, yesterday, when the Queen’s Park Cricket Club renamed its Trini Posse Stand the Bravo, Pollard & Narine Stand.

The ceremony, held on Trinidad and Tobago’s 64th Independence Anniversary, honoured Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine, three products of the Queen’s Park youth system who went on to establish themselves as leading figures in West Indies and global T20 and ODI cricket.

In response to this latest development, Sport and Youth Affairs Minister, the Honourable Phillip Watts noted the challenges faced by SporTT with respect to the reconciliation by the TTFA.

Minister Watts said yesterday, “Such issues have predated my tenure and continue to be a hurdle towards accountability and transparency. We will agree that matters of public purse should engage our attention, and we must be diligent in the allocation and spending of the same, and must not be accused of mishandling or misappropriating. I, as minister, will do all that is required to ensure that all NGBs comply with the rules and/or policies to ensure good governance in this country.”

The Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) has renamed its marquee competition as a means of acknowledging the recent intervention of the Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT), which helped ensure the smooth running of its upcoming competition, which kicks off on Friday with an exhibition double-header at Ato Boldon Stadium.

The competition will now be known as "SSFL SporTT Boys Premiership."

Jereem “The Dream” Richards and Keshorn Walcott are among the contenders for the Men’s 400 metres title and Men's javelin title at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, Hungary.

The Ultimate Championship, according to a World Athletics press release, “is designed to settle the debate over who is the best of the best, with world champions, Olympic champions, Wanda Diamond League winners and the year’s top-ranked athletes all striving to be crowned the champion of champions.”

The Trinidad and Tobago Rifle Association has extended congratulations to Dave Ramlal, who secured an impressive second-place podium finish in the Optics Senior category at the 2026 IPSC Pan American Handgun Championships.

His achievement marks the first time a Trinidad and Tobago shooter has secured a podium finish at the prestigious regional event.

Following his run, Richards used the Ultimate Championship platform to make an impassioned plea to the powers-that-be.

“Let’s take track and field serious, please. Invest in sport, invest in track and field. We are the most successful sport in Trinidad and Tobago.”

Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Honourable Phillip Watts said an online platform will be created to better assist Trinidad and Tobago athletes with applying for funding to compete internationally.

Minister Watts was responding to questions in Parliament regarding the measures being implemented by the Ministry to ensure national athletes receive funding.

Both teams, the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SPORTT) and the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA), have expressed optimism that the requested funding will be made available to the Trinidad and Tobago’s senior men’s football team to participate in the upcoming Concacaf Nations League (CNL).

This follows a meeting with SporTT and the TTFA at the National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua yesterday.

THE Aquatics Sports Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ASATT) has raised concerns about the recently concluded Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs Discover H₂O Polo Programme.

ASATT president Shawn Pouchet’s claims proper protocols were not followed in setting up the programme and, as a result, the Association declined to endorse it.
