'No NACAC Champs for T&T - Funding the problem says Serrette'
Trinidad and Tobago will not be represented at the July 10-12 North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Under-18 and Under-23 Championships in Tlaxcala, Mexico.
In a letter addressed to “all affiliated clubs, athletes, coaches and members”, yesterday, National Association of Athletics Administrations of Trinidad and Tobago (NAAATT) president Ephraim Serrette said “the funding required to facilitate the team’s participation could not be secured.”

Aspiring cricketers at Blanchisseuse Secondary School and residents of the wider North Coast community were all smiles on Tuesday morning.
Angostura Limited, through its Angostura Chill brand, officially presented the institution with refurbished practice nets as it continues to invest in the school’s cricket programme.
Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, the Honourable Phillip Watts was present and encouraged members of the cricket team to take full advantage of the facilities.

'Safe Home: TT Table Tennis Delegation Returns Home After Caracas Earthquakes'

Trinidad and Tobago will have representation after all at the July 10-12 North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Under-18 and Under-23 Championships in Tlaxcala, Mexico.
They previously ruled out competing in the championships, but late Wednesday, Sport and Youth Affairs Minister, the Honourable Phillip Watts had stepped in to ensure T&T's attendance at the continental meet.

Trinidad and Tobago athletes Omari Lewis and Tyra Gittens-Spotsville captured Barbados Grand Prix gold at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex, in Bridgetown, on Saturday.
 
Leah Bertrand clocked 23.52 seconds to finish second in the Women’s 200m.
Michelle-Lee Ahye was third in the Women’s 100m in 11.67.
Shakeem McKay got home in 45.92 seconds to secure third spot in the Men’s 400m.

TWO schools from the Southeast Zonal Council of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) proved their superiority at the Primary Schools Cricket Festival Day organized by the Sports Company of T&T on Tuesday.
 
Rochard Douglas Presbyterian emerged winners with St Mary’s Government Primary runners-up, and Madras Government third in an exciting day’s cricket at the National Cricket Centre. And coming in for high praise was the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT).

"Boodoo leads Under - 19s at Rising Stars tourney" 
West Indies Under-19 batter Brendan Boodoo will captain the Trinidad and Tobago team at this year’s West Indies Rising Stars 50-over Under-19 Championship in Antigua.
Boodoo, prolific in local youth cricket this year, will lead a 14-man squad at the tournament, with Renaldo Fournillier being his vice-captain.
The squad also includes middle-order batter Kaiden Pollard and Daron Dhanraj who is a left-arm spinner.

"Beatniks claim three titles to return as Arouca pride"
Arouca Beatniks, once a household name in East Trinidad in the sport of football, is returning to prominence after winning three titles this year alone.
 
Previously a successful campaigner in the Eddie Hart Football League in the Under-14, U-16, and U-19 Divisions under then-coach Eddie Stanford, Arouca Beatniks made major strides by claiming the national Under-17 crown, as well as the East Zone U-17 and Under-20 titles under Coach Kerron Hercules, an understudy of Stanford.

'Martinez, Gillard-Bruce star as curtain falls on Short Course Champs'
Marena Martinez shattered a long-standing national age-group record while Evan Gillard-Bruce achieved a World Aquatics qualifying standard as the curtain came down on the Aquatics Sports Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ASATT) National Age-Group Short Course Championships at the National Aquatic Centre in Balmain, Couva, on Sunday.
The final day of competition produced the championship’s biggest performances, with 14-year-old Marlins Aquatics Club swimmer Martinez rewriting the Girls’ 13-14 1,500 metres freestyle record in the morning session.

Eden Chee Wah produced a golden run in Tlaxcala, Mexico, yesterday, stopping the clock at a wind-aided 23.10 seconds to capture the girls’ Under-18 200 metres title at the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Under-18 and Under-23 Championships.
T&T ended the Championships with 19 medals-- four gold, seven silver and eight bronze. Lalenii Grant, Mekhi Guischard-Yearwood, Janae De Gannes and Chee Wah were T&T’s golden athletes.
