| The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs has averted more scrutiny by coming to the aid of the T&T Volleyball Federation (TTVF) with the late disbursement of funding for upcoming tournaments. President of the TTVF, Daymian Stewart said that they were still awaiting word from the relevant government officials with regard to the release of funds. The funds will be given out today from SporTT.

| Opposition Leader, Pennelope Beckles has called on the Government to give the appointment of a SporTT board of directors a priority. Ms. Beckles was responding to a Trinidad Guardian report on Tuesday in which the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Phillip Watts said the delay in naming a new SporTT board was only a matter of the Government’s priorities at the start of its five-year tenure.

| Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, Senator David Nakhid, met with the president of the SSFL, Merere Gonzales, and assistant secretary of administration, Laurence Seepersad, to chart a way forward for the League. The meeting was initiated by the Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, Phillip Watts, to encourage the development of youths as well-rounded athletes through strategy and innovative techniques.

| **‘Sprint start Jereem gets $250k boost in elite athlete funding’ **

| Ace Trinidad and Tobago sprinter Jereem Richards has received Elite Athlete Assistance Programme (EAAP) funding to the tune of $250,000 as he prepares for meets such as the NGC/National Association of Athletics Administration (NAAATT) Open Championships and the World Athletics Championships to be held in Tokyo, Japan.
The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs expressed its delight at offering funding to Richards, who was presented with a cheque by the ministry's permanent secretary Beverly Reid-Samuel.

| Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, Senator David Nakhid, met with the president of the SSFL, Merere Gonzales, and assistant secretary of administration, Laurence Seepersad, to chart a way forward for the League. Senator Nakhid noted that this is the first time in the 50 years of the League that this type of meeting has been held to change the format and amend the Laws of the SSFL with a view to preserving its longevity. Nakhid also gave a commitment to looking into the issues, with the aim of having them addressed, and suggested that the League explore more opportunities to develop student athletes.
